Queen of Tears Synopsis: An Attempt to Rekindle the Love of a Husband and Wife

Queen of Tears is the latest Korean romantic comedy drama starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won. In the drama, the two become a married couple, Baek Hyun-woo and Hon Hae-in. The marriage that many people dreamed of from the outside turned out to be on the edge. In the third year of building a household, Hyun-woo is already thinking about separation.

Queen of Tears tells the story of Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun), a reliable lawyer who comes from a well-off family and is the pride of his hometown. Initially, he worked as an office clerk at the Queens Department. There, Hyun-woo meets Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), a part-time employee at the company. Hyun-woo often sees Hae-in struggling at work and being scolded by their boss. So, Hyun-woo slowly helped her and became worried about Hae-in.

One day, Hyun-woo expresses his feelings for Hae-in and even admits that he is ready to become the breadwinner of the family if Hae-in wants to be with him and no longer work. He says this without knowing Hae-in's true identity and family background. Baek Hyun-woo doesn't realize Hong Hae-in is the daughter of the owner of Queens Group.

Although they had a rocky start to their relationship, the two are now married. Hyun-woo is the head of Queens Group's legal team, while Hae-in is a top management officer at the company. The marriage made Hyun-woo said to have the life that every man wants without knowing the real conditions.

Within three years of marriage, Hyun-woo was under a lot of pressure from Hong Hae-in's family, ranging from personal legal problems of family members to plans to have children. On the other hand, Hyun-woo couldn't expect anything from Hae-in. He thinks Hae-in is not on his side. The wife is even considered to put more pressure both at home and work. He felt all the pressure in their three years of marriage. Hyun-woo finally decided to stop pretending to be happy and planned to sue Hong Hae-in for divorce. At the time of the divorce, Baek Hyun-woo received news that could potentially change the plan.

Queen of Tears is Kim Soo-hyun's latest drama in recent years. In the drama, he reunited with writer Park Ji-eun after starring in My Love from the Star and The Producers. The drama is also Kim Ji-won's first romcom after starring in Fight for My Way in 2017. However, she did star in three parts of Arthdal Chronicles and My Liberation Notes. She also reunited with Kwak Dong-yeon in Queen of Tears.
