City Hunter is the latest live action movie produced by and airing on Netflix. The movie is adapted from a popular classic Japanese manga published in 1985. City Hunter tells the story of a sweeper named Ryo Saeba who has a mission to eradicate crime in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, while looking for the killer of his best friend.

City Hunter follows a sweeper or private detective who has an area of operation in Shinjuku, named Ryo Saeba (Ryohei Suzuki). On a daily basis, he is tasked to root out crime after being summoned by the words “XYZ” on the Shinjuku Station board. In addition to being a detective, Ryo is also flirtatious and has a hobby of “gazing” at women until he becomes famous in the bars in his operational area. Ryo doesn't work alone. He has a partner in crime named Hideyuki Makimura (Masanobu Ando).

One day, Ryo receives a job to search for a missing cosplayer with Hideyuki's help. Their discovery leads to a woman who may know the cosplayer's whereabouts. However, this woman seems suspicious. In the evening, Hideyuki is having dinner with his tomboyish younger sister Kaori Makimura (Misato Morita). However, the dinner appointment ended tragically because Hideyuki was suddenly murdered to death.

Hideyuki left a message to Ryo before he breathed his last to take care of Kaori. Hideyuki's death left Ryo devastated. He is now assisted by Kaori to find the mastermind behind Hideyuki's murder. City Hunter is a live action movie adaptation of the popular classic manga of the same name by Tsukasa Hojo. The manga, which was released in the 1980s-1990s, has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.


The manga has also been adapted into various forms, ranging from anime series, Korean dramas, to the big screen. Including, the movie adaptation by Jackie Chan. The City Hunter live action movie screenplay was written by Tatsuro Mishima and directed by Yuichi Sato.

Meanwhile, Keisuke Sanpei and Kosuke Oshida act as producers. Ryohei Suzuki was lined up to be the lead actor in the City Hunter movie. Meanwhile, Masanobu Ando and Misato Morita became his co-stars. In addition, the film was also enlivened by Fumino Kimura, Tetta Sugimoto, Ayame Misaki, and Asuka Hanamura.
