Another new horror film is ready to terrorize Indonesian cinemas this May titled “Tarot.” Tarot is an American supernatural horror film produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment based on the 1992 adaptation of Nicholas Adams' novel “Horrorscope”. Directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, Tarot stars a lineup of Hollywood actors and actresses, such as Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, and Jacob Batalon.  Not to forget the names, Humberly Gonzalez, Alana Boden, Olwen Fouere, Wolfgang Novogratz, Larsen Thompson will also star in this horror film.

Overall, Tarot presents horror through tarot cards, which are commonly used for spiritual purposes and fortune telling. The movie tells the story of a group of friends who end up tragically because of their carelessness in breaking the sacred rules of tarot reading. 

Unbeknownst to them, their carelessness wreaks havoc as they unleash the terrifying entities trapped in the cursed cards. One by one, they face fate, racing against death to avoid the future foretold in their horoscope readings.

In the 1-minute 56-second trailer uploaded on Sony Pictures Entertainment's YouTube channel, the film begins with Haley and her friends on vacation, accidentally finding tarot cards in an old villa. Haley carelessly breaks the sacred rules of Tarot reading by playing the cards to foretell the fate of her friends. The rule they broke was that each of them should not use the other's deck of cards.  As a result of that carelessness, they unknowingly unleash the unspeakable evil trapped inside the cursed deck of tarot cards.

This is seen when one by one her friends Elise, Lucas, and Madeline are reportedly killed after returning from vacation according to the prophecy. Haley finally realized that the deaths of her three friends were in accordance with the tarot cards and their sequence. So, they try to seek help from a spiritual practitioner to stop the tarot card curse. The Tarot movie also presents the mystery of entity images on tarot cards that turn real and life-threatening.

The entities are designed according to the images of Tarot cards and are ready to hunt down their victims.  Did they manage to survive the terrible prophecy that they read themselves? Tarot movie is scheduled to be released in Indonesian theaters on May 10, 2024.
