AGUSPRASETIYO.COM - Movies about shark terror seem to be endlessly produced. The thrill from these underwater predators can now be felt in Under Paris, an original film from Netflix. The movie, starring Berenice Bejo, tells the story of a dangerous big shark hunting mission to prevent bloodshed in Paris, specifically the Seine when it hosts the World Triathlon Championships. Although many movies have taken a similar premise, Under Paris is no less interesting to watch.

This is because it not only shows the tension of the hunt but also brings an emotional atmosphere when the main character is reunited with the hunted shark.

Synopsis of Under Paris

In the summer of 2024, Paris will host the World Triathlon Championships on the river Seine for the first time. Like a typical triathlon, swimming, cycling, and running will be done sequentially around the Seine River.

However, amid preparations for the event, Sophia (Berenice Bejo), a brilliant scientist, is told by Mika (Lea Leviant), a young environmental activist, that a large shark is roaming the river. The big shark is Beacon 7, a giant shark that Sophia and her team have been monitoring for several years. However, everything changed about three years ago when they checked in the North Pacific.

Beacon 7 looked much bigger than what they had seen a few months ago. Not only that, Sofia also lost her team members while taking samples from Beacon 7. Sophia returned to Paris and now discovers the fact that Beacon 7 or Lillith is already in the center of Siene, which is the location of the world triathlon. She realized that the giant shark had evolved to survive in polluted fresh water.

After learning this fact, Sophia only has 24 hours to catch the shark that roams the Seine River. She then teams up with Adil (Nassim Lyes), the commander of the Seine River police to prevent potential chaos and bloodshed in the city. During the hunt, great tension and pressure are put on Sophia, as she is forced to face dangerous situations that remind her of her past with Lilith who turned into a radical shark.

The pressure is also on the Mayor of Paris (Anne Marvin), who wants nothing to do with the situation and wants the Triathlon Championship to go ahead.

The action begins for Sophia and the Fair team. Together, they devise a plan to catch the radical shark. However, in the middle of the mission, someone informs them that Mika and her friends are trying to summon Lilith with sonar signals. Sophia and Adil's preparations came to a halt to prevent Mika and her friends. They race against time to prevent Mika from doing that action.

As a result of Mika's actions, Lilith's radicalism becomes more and more, and Sophia and Adil must face challenges and tensions to find and capture the dangerous Lilith. Under Paris is directed by Xavier Gens, who also co-wrote the script with Sebastian Auscher and Yannick Dahan.
