Synopsis of Uglies
The Uglies story is set in a dystopian world where every teenager is required to undergo plastic surgery at the age of 16. The operation aims to eliminate physical differences and make everyone conform to the ideal beauty standards set by society.
“Uglies” stars Joey King as Tally Youngblood, a teenager waiting for her 16th birthday. She is excited to undergo a surgery that promises to change her life and make her “beautiful” according to the prevailing standards.
In a future post-scarcity dystopian world where everyone is considered “ugly”, but then transforms into “Beautiful” with extreme cosmetic surgery when they reach the age of 16. It tells the story of teenager Tally Youngblood who rebels against society's enforced conformity.
Uglies also sheds light on a world where all normal people are ugly. To be beautiful, you have to be sixteen. The book begins when a girl named Tally decides to sneak into a party in New Pretty Town to see her friend who is three months older than her and has just had her surgery become beautiful. It is known that the movie is adapted from the 2005 bestselling YA science fiction novel of the same name. The original book consists of three sequels (Pretties, Specials, and Extras) as well as four spin-off novels in the same universe (Impostors, Shatter City, Mirror's Edge, and Youngbloods).
