Synopsis of  Weekend in Taipei

John Lawlor (Luke Evans) is an American undercover agent. He is assigned to investigate an international drug network led by Kwang (Sung Kang), a crime boss based in Taipei. During his mission, John meets Joey (Gwei Lun-Mei), a transporter working under Kwang.

Unexpectedly, love blossoms between them, although in the end, the two must part ways because John must still complete his mission. Then, 15 years later, John returns to Taipei, this time for a vacation. However, during this vacation, he plans to take action to bring down the Kwang syndicate that is still operating.

Unexpectedly, fate reunites him with Joey, now Kwang's wife, and Joey and John's son Raymond (Wyatt Yang). Joey warns John that his life is under threat. John was surprised because Joey was still trapped in Kwang's power. Besieged by Kwang's men, the three of them try to escape by going to Joey's hometown which is located on the beach.

However, no one can escape Kwang's grasp if they are still in Taipei. The situation becomes even more precarious when Raymond is taken hostage and John must give himself up in exchange. Faced with a choice full of dilemmas, John and Joey work together to save their son and stop Kwang's evil once and for all.
