Synopsis of the Movie 'Singsot: The Whistle of Death', The Myth of the Nighttime Whistle Leads to Doom

'Singsot: The Whistle of Death' by Wahyu Agung is an adaptation of a short film of the same name that was released in 2016. However, the long version of this film will be released on March 13, 2025.

In Javanese, the word “Singsot” means whistling. As the title suggests, the movie explores a long-held Javanese myth and belief that prohibits whistling during Maghrib or nighttime. The belief is that whistling at dusk can attract spirits. Those who violate this taboo can face dire consequences and unbelievable terror.

The story focuses on a young boy named Ipung, who has been warned by his grandparents not to whistle during Maghrib. However, out of curiosity and mischief, Ipung ignores the warning and whistles anyway, not realizing that his actions will open the gates to an unimaginable catastrophe. That night, Ipung began to experience gripping supernatural terror. When he fell asleep, he was haunted by a mysterious figure that resembled the people around him. Even to the point of showing his death.

When he woke up, the terror did not end. Instead, it became more real and horrifying, putting Ipung on the brink of death. Now, Ipung must race against time to save himself. He must find a way to fight or avoid the curse that he has summoned himself through his nightly whistling.

Will he succeed in escaping the clutches of death, or will he have to face the terrible fate that awaits him later?
