Synopsis of The Potato Lab
Kim Mi-Kyung (Lee Sun-bin) pursues her career as a potato researcher very diligently in a mountain valley. She worked at the Potato Research Institute for 12 years and is still loyal to that job. Mi-kyung's life is quite simple. She lives in the highlands with daily activities not far from the potato field.
However, that tranquility suddenly changes when someone named So Baek-ho (Kang Tae-oh) arrives at the Potato Research Institute. Baek-ho is the Innovation Director of the Strategic Planning Department at Wonhan Retail.
He came to take over the potato laboratory belonging to the Potato Research Institute which had been lovingly fostered by Kim Mi-kyung along with other researchers and farmers. So Baek-ho's presence was warmly welcomed because of his handsome face. Baek-ho's demeanor was also very friendly because he smiled a lot and was very calm.
However, behind all that, Baek-ho was a very capitalist businessman. Baek-ho could even make extreme decisions like a cold-blooded businessman. That was the beginning of Mi-kyung and Baek-ho's long conflict. They clashed because Baek-ho's plan to manage the Potato Research Institute clashed with Mi-kyung's principles.
Even so, the quarrel between them turned out to trigger Mi-Kyung and Baek-ho to get to know each other. They also slowly began to compromise and try to understand each other's perspectives. The interaction finally changed the relationship between Mi-Kyung and Baek-ho. The researcher and businessman felt the change in their relationship from enemies to lovers.
The Potato Lab is directed by Kang Il-soo from a script by Kim Ho-soo. The director and screenwriter duo are working together again after Solomon's Perjury (2016) and Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019).
The rom-com drama stars Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh as the main characters. In addition, The Potato Lab also stars Lee Hak-joo, Kim Ga-eun, Kwak Ja-hyung, and Woo Jung-won. The Potato Lab consists of 12 episodes and airs every Saturday-Sunday on Netflix.
