Synopsis of Syirik (Danyang Laut Selatan)

After six years of studying at an Islamic boarding school, Said returned to his village, Wonosari, and found a striking change. His village is now entangled in mystical teachings. Amid the chaos, Said meets Sari again, his childhood sweetheart. However, their relationship is hindered by Sari's mother, Santika, who is ambitious to make Sari the main dancer in the village ritual.

Sari, who does not know its importance, is trapped in a dangerous intrigue between Santika, Ningsih, and Pak Lurah. Ningsih, who wants to seize the position of the main dancer, is ready to do anything, including using black magic to threaten Sari.

Meanwhile, Ki Dalang, the leader of the village ritual, tries hard to find out who meets the requirements to be the main dancer. A search that ends in a confrontation with a dark force that threatens everyone involved.
