The beginning of 2026 was an exciting time for Indonesian horror film fans. Several Indonesian filmmakers presented new works that didn't rely solely on jump scares but also adapted local stories with a fresh approach. One title that caught the attention was Penunggu Rumah: Buto Ijo, a horror film inspired by the Timun Mas folk legend, with a modern twist and a dark, oppressive atmosphere. Depicting the figure of Buto Ijo, a familiar figure from childhood fairy tales, this film seeks to break that classic image. Rather than simply being a monster from a bedtime story, Buto Ijo is presented as a more realistic, mysterious, and meaningful symbol of terror. It's no wonder that from the moment its first trailer was released, the film immediately piqued audiences' curiosity. Synopsis of the Film Wall to Wall
Wall to Wall is a Korean thriller film that tells the story of Woo Seong (played by Kang Ha Neul), a single man in his thirties who finally managed to buy his dream apartment of 84 square meters. In Korea, buying an apartment is a symbol of life achievement in a dense city.
To get his dream apartment, Woo Seong has spent all his financial resources, including stock investments, savings, and his mother's garlic garden. However, his happiness in having an apartment is only temporary. After moving in, he begins to be disturbed by strange sounds from inside the walls and ceiling, which slowly disturb his peace and sanity. The sounds trigger tension with the neighbors and make Woo Seong feel alienated in a place that should be his safe home.
In his efforts to find out the origin of the disturbance, Woo Seong gets involved with Jin Ho (played by Seo Hyun Woo), a neighbor from the upper floor who seems close but turns out to have many secrets. They are also helped by Eun Hwa (played by Yeom Hye Ran), a middle-aged woman who serves as the head of the apartment residents and tries to maintain the harmony of the environment.
Will these three gangs succeed in uncovering what happened in the apartment they live in?
This film not only offers tension but also raises social issues that are relevant to today's urban life. Wall to Wall is a reflection of social isolation and the pressures of living in a big city, especially in a narrow space like an apartment.
