The Korean film industry is currently being excited by the first feature-length AI film in Korea, made with the help of AI. The development of artificial intelligence is now so rapid that it can be involved in the film industry.
Run to the West, also known as Middle Earth, is South Korea's first feature-length AI film, scheduled for release on October 15, 2025. The film is directed by Korean director Kang Yoon Sung, who previously directed the Baeksang Arts Award-winning film "The Outlaws."
Who is Kang Yoon Sung?
Kang Yoon Sung is a Korean-born director who has won several prestigious awards. Kang Yoong Sung won the Best New Director award at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2018 for his film "The Outlaws," starring Ma Dong-seok.
Furthermore, in 2023, he also won Best Director at the 59th Daejong Film Awards for his film "Big Bet." This year, Kang Yoong Sung experimented with combining art and technology by directing the film "Run to the West."

Synopsis of "Run to the West"
Run to the West tells the story of people trapped between the worlds of life and death. Confused about what's happening, they face a grim reaper who seeks to destroy their souls. The trailer introduces many terrifying creatures, from a cloaked creature thought to be the grim reaper, to a tiger-faced creature, to a monkey-faced creature.
"Run to the West" Release Date
"Run to the West" will officially premiere shortly after, on October 15, 2025, in South Korean theaters. There is no further information regarding the official global release date, especially in Indonesian cinemas.
Byung Yo-han, the lead actor, expressed both nervousness and pride at being involved in this experimental film. He also admitted that the experience was different from conventional film productions. He was quite proud to be a part of "To the West," the first AI-made feature-length film in Korea.
