"Big Deal" Synopsis


"Big Deal" is set in 1997. At that time, South Korea was experiencing extreme economic turmoil due to the IMF crisis. This situation brought Kukbo Soju to the brink of bankruptcy. Previously, the company was known as the market leader in soju due to its unmatched taste.

Pyo Jong Rok (Yoo Hae Jin) works as Kukbo Soju's Finance Director. He has dedicated his entire life to the company. Despite his status as director, Pyo Jong Rok is known as a friendly and humble person. He has strong convictions and is willing to do anything to protect Kukbo Soju.

Meanwhile, Choi In Beom is an employee at a global investment firm who has had his eye on Kukbo Soju for a long time. Behind his calm demeanor, he apparently harbors ulterior motives. Choi In Beom intends to sell Kukbo Soju.

Meanwhile, Big Deal marks Choi Yoon Jin's directorial debut. He previously worked on Steel Cold Winter (2013) and Office (2015) as a screenwriter.

Choi Yoon Jin collaborates with Showbox, the company that has distributed numerous popular films, including A Taxi Driver (2017), Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018), Ransomed (2023), Exhuma (2024), and many others.
