Following the massive success of the 2022 film Prey, director Dan Trachtenberg revived the Predator franchise with his latest film, Predator: Badlands. Taking a fresh approach, this film portrays the Predator not as a villain, but as a hero. The Predator franchise debuted in the 1987 film of the same name.

Since then, the franchise has expanded to five main films, plus two crossover films with the Alien franchise (Alien vs. Predator and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem). Predator: Badlands tells the story of a young Predator living in the future, on a remote, deserted, and dangerous planet. Considered a failure by his own group, he is banished and must survive alone. During his journey, the Predator encounters Thia (played by Elle Fanning), a human also struggling on the planet. Despite their differences at first, the two eventually become friends and help each other.

Together, they embark on a dangerous adventure to face the most powerful enemy they've ever encountered. Interestingly, this film shows a different side of the predator, not as a villain, but as someone who can fight for good and friendship.

Predator: Badlands Cast


Elle Fanning stars in Predator: Badlands, playing Thia. She is best known for her Emmy-nominated role in the series The Great, and most recently appeared in the 2024 film A Country Unknown.

Meanwhile, the main Predator is played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. This marks his Hollywood film debut. The New Zealand actor has previously appeared in several TV series, such as Far North, Upright, The Panthers, and the film Red, White & Brass.
