Kevin James, known for the sitcom "The King of Queens" and box office hits like "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," plays an innocent father caught in a mess. Meanwhile, Alan Ritchson, star of the "Reacher" series and "Fast & Furious 11," plays a tough dad with a suspicious background. The two form a unique duo with witty chemistry, which is the film's main attraction.

Directed by Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door), this film promises a blend of absurd action and the silliness of suburban life, based on a script by Neil Goldman (Shrinking). Here's the synopsis!

Synopsis of the Film 'Playdate'


According to Deadline, the film 'Playdate' tells the story of Brian, played by Kevin James, an accountant who has just lost his job and is now facing his first day as a stay-at-home dad to his 10-year-old son.

Everything seems normal until he accepts an invitation to a playdate from Jeff, played by Alan Ritchson, another charismatic stay-at-home dad who has a big surprise in store. Initially, Brian expects the day to be filled with small talk and a game of soccer. But the opposite happens.

Unintentionally, they are drawn into a deadly conspiracy involving a group of armed mercenaries. From one chaos to another, the clumsy and incompetent Brian is forced to survive alongside Jeff, his mysterious father, who turns out to be well-prepared for extreme situations. Imagine a blend of family film, brutal action, and slapstick comedy all in one crazy adventure!

The film is produced by Greenfield and Jason Benoit's WideAwake Pictures, in collaboration with Nickel City Pictures, A Higher Standard, and Arcana Studios. This project also marks the debut of A Higher Standard, a new international sales company led by former Millennium executive Jeffrey Greenstein.

In addition to the two main actors, Kevin James and Alan Ritchson, the film also features a talented cast including Alan Tudyk, Isla Fisher, Benjamin Pajak, Stephen Root, Hiro Kanagawa, Sarah Chalke, and Banks Pierce. They will enliven the storyline with unique characters and laugh-out-loud surprises.

"Playdate" is scheduled for global release on November 12, 2025. With a fresh plot, a combination of action and humor, and two contrasting yet cohesive lead actors, this film is predicted to be one of the most anticipated action comedies of the year.
