The synopsis for Troll 2 tells the story of how, when a dangerous new troll awakens from its slumber, Norway is once again thrown into chaos. Paleontology professor Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann), along with political advisor Andreas Isaksen (Kim Falck) and former army captain Kristoffer Holm (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen), must undertake the most risky mission of their lives.

The giant monster destroys everything in its path, bringing the entire country to the brink of destruction. The three must race against time to uncover answers to Norway's ancient history and stop the troll before it's too late. Along the way, they are aided by a new character named Marion (Sara Khorami), who adds to the group dynamic.

The first Troll film told the story of a giant creature from Norse legend awakening due to a railway project in the Dovre Mountains. The film captivated audiences with its blend of ancient mythology, magnificent visuals, and a powerful ecological message.

The Creative Team Behind Troll 2

The sequel is still being directed by Roar Uthaug, whose previous successes included Tomb Raider and The Wave. Espen Aukan wrote the script, while producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud of Motion Blur have been entrusted with expanding the Troll universe. In an interview with Netflix, Uthaug expressed his pride in the first film's overwhelming response and promised to deliver an even more spectacular spectacle in the sequel. "We want to deepen the story, expand the scale, and create a spectacle as big as the troll itself," said the director.

Cast Lineup


The film brings back the beloved main cast. Ine Marie Wilmann returns as Nora Tidemann, the brave scientist determined to protect her homeland. Kim Falck reprises his role as Andreas, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen reprises his role as Captain Kris, now a major. Newcomer Sara Khorami joins the cast as Marion, a mysterious character who becomes a crucial ally in the mission.

Wilmann expressed his excitement at returning to the story. "We thoroughly enjoyed making Troll 2, and hope viewers will experience the same adventure as before," he said.

Troll 2 will be one of Netflix's biggest releases of the year. According to Netflix, the film is scheduled for worldwide release on December 1, 2025.
