Warung Pocong (2026): A Hilarious Yet Haunting Tale of Desperate Hustlers

Directed by Bendolt and produced by Entelekey Media Indonesia in collaboration with Tiger Pictures, Warung Pocong taps into the classic Indonesian trope of pesugihan (dark rituals for wealth). However, instead of a grim drama, the film leans into the absurdity of three urban city boys trying to survive a supernatural nightmare for a paycheck.

The Synopsis: A Fifty-Million-Rupiah Trap

The story follows three best friends from Jakarta—Kartono, Agus, and Makmur—who are at rock bottom. Between crushing debt and falling victim to fraudulent investment schemes, they are desperate.

When a mysterious job offer appears, promising a staggering Rp50 million per month just to manage a food stall (warung) in the remote village of Lali Jiwo, they jump at the chance. But the "catch" becomes clear on their first night: the customers aren't exactly human, and the previous "employees" didn't exactly retire. Surrounded by restless spirits and the legendary Pocong, the trio must decide if their lives are worth the high salary.

Cast and Characters

  • Fajar Nugra as Kartono: The "planner" who tries to keep the group sane but is often the first to panic.

  • Randhika Djamil as Makmur: The most desperate of the bunch, willing to negotiate with ghosts if it means getting paid.
  • Shareefa Daanish: The "Queen of Indonesian Horror" returns in a mysterious role that ties the village’s dark past together.

The Review: Is It Worth a Ticket?

Warung Pocong succeeds where many horror-comedies fail: it respects the horror. The atmosphere of Lali Jiwo is genuinely unsettling, and the creature designs—especially the titular Pocong—are eerie enough to make you jump.

However, the chemistry between Fajar, Sadana, and Randhika is the true soul of the movie. Their banter feels authentic to the struggle of modern-day "Gen Z/Millennial" financial anxiety. While the plot follows a somewhat predictable path regarding the village's secret, the comedic timing is impeccable.

Verdict: 7.5/10. A perfect "popcorn movie" to watch with friends. It’s scary enough to make you grab your neighbor’s arm, but funny enough to keep you smiling through the credits.
