Synopsis of Pump Up the Healthy Love
Do Hyun-Joong (Lee Jun-young) is a bodybuilder. His life is only focused on his health and fitness, so he often forgets other things, including those that affect his romantic relationships.
Hyun-joong's habits make his love life fail. On the other hand, he is successful as a bodybuilder, one of which is by becoming the first winner of the Mr. David Competition, which is the ultimate dream of all bodybuilders around the world.
After winning the trophy, Hyun-joong disappeared from the competitive bodybuilding industry. It turns out that he works at a fitness center. As the owner and trainer of the fitness center, he struggles to make the fitness center successful. Unfortunately, Do Hyun-Joong also has a habit of being too honest to the point of hurting others, including his potential clients. So, his gym business is on the brink.
In his efforts to have a successful fitness center, he recruits new members, until one day he meets Lee Mi-ran (Jung Eun-ji). Lee Mi-ran has lost her identity. Since childhood, she has been ostracized by her male friends. Her love life has always failed, so she feels that there is something wrong with her.
When she was at her lowest point, Lee Mi-ran found a flyer that Do Hyun-joong had distributed. She suddenly entered Do Hyun-joong's fitness center and instead received a series of advice.
Initially, Lee Mi-ran did not believe Do Hyun-joong's advice and suggestions regarding her body shape and habits. However, she finally tried to believe in the hope that changing her body could make her loveable. As the two spent more time together, they finally learned about Mi-ran's lost self-confidence and Hyun-joong's unresolved trauma.
On the other hand, the once nearly empty gym is filled with unique new members who create a vibrant and supportive community. Facing challenges such as financial pressure, competing with other gyms, and feelings of insecurity, Hyun-Joong and Mi-ran begin to depend on each other.
