The Garfield Movie Synopsis
The Garfield Movie follows Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt) as he meets Vic (Samuel L. Jackson), a scruffy street cat and his long-lost father. It all starts when Garfield and Odie (Harvey Guillen), the pet of Jon Arbuckle (Nicholas Hoult), are suddenly kidnapped by two dogs, Roland and Nolan, and dumped in a neglected mall.
There, they meet Vic, who abandoned Garfield as a child. The meeting makes Garfield want revenge on Vic, which is to leave him at Lactose Farms. Garfield, Odie, and Vic then take the train to Lactose Farms. On the way, Vic tries to bond with Garfield again. However, the lazy kitty rejected his attempt.
Upon arriving at Lactose Farms, they realize the area has tight security. There, the trio meet Otto (Ving Rhames), a bull who is the farm's former mascot.
He was banished after a company bankrupted the farm's owner. This leaves Otto separated from Ethel (Alicia Grace Turrell), his favorite cow. The trio then agree to help get Ethel out on the condition that Otto can bring them into the ranch. While on that mission, Garfield learns the facts behind his breakup with Vic.
The Garfield Movie is inspired by the orange cat's comic strip by cartoonist Jim Davis. The movie was directed by Mark Dindal with a script written by Paul A Kaplan, Mark Torgove, and David Reynolds.
The voices of the animated film's characters are also provided by Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg.
Before the latest movie aired, Garfield's character had been brought to the big screen through Garfield: The Movie (2004), Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006). The orange cat character also appeared in the trilogy Garfield Gets Real (2007), Garfield Fun Fest (2008), and Garfield's Pet Force (2009).
In addition, Garfield has also graced television since 1982 in the series Here Comes Garfield (1982) to Garfield Gets a Life (1991).
