The Indonesian horror film world is once again welcoming a new work that's sure to send shivers down your spine. Getih Ireng, a film by Hitmaker Studios, will be released in theaters on October 16, 2025.

With a strong mystical feel and a tale of family terror, this film is produced by Rocky Soraya, directed by Tommy Dewo, and written by Riheam Junianti. Interestingly, the story of Getih Ireng is based on one of the most sadistic threads on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), owned by the account @Jeropoint, which is known for its gripping horror stories.

Synopsis of Getih Ireng


The story of Getih Ireng centers on a married couple, Pram (Darius Sinathrya) and Rina (Titi Kamal), who long for a child in their marriage.

However, their hopes are repeatedly dashed. Rina's unborn child consistently miscarries, as if an unseen force is preventing them from having children. A mysterious, supernatural figure begins to disturb Rina's life. She often sees a frightening apparition in the form of an old man, believed to be the embodiment of a black magic spell called Getih Ireng.

It is said that this evil force is not just ordinary terror, but a curse that affects Rina's family's bloodline.
The fear intensifies when dishonesty between Rina and Pram is revealed. The secret they are hiding only makes the terror even more real. The mysterious spirit, the old man, attempts to take control of Rina's body and targets the baby she is carrying.

A Horror Film with a Touch of Indonesian Mystical Culture


Getih Ireng offers more than just jump scares; it also conveys a uniquely Indonesian mystical nuance that remains deeply rooted in everyday life. The themes of black magic and blood curses are particularly appealing, as they address issues still considered taboo yet relatable to everyday reality.
