One of them is "Kuncen," a horror film produced by Hers Productions, scheduled to hit theaters on November 6, 2025. What makes it even more interesting is that Atta Halilintar, a renowned YouTuber and successful young creator, is also serving as executive producer.

"Kuncen" Synopsis


"Kuncen" tells the story of Awindya, who invites his friends, Mojo and Agnes, to Mount Merbabu after receiving no news from his girlfriend, who is hiking. However, their journey takes a terrifying turn when they discover that the mountain caretaker has died in tragic circumstances, suspected to be the victim of black magic.

According to local belief, the Kuncen's death brings disaster. Without a guardian, the balance of the mountain's supernatural realm is disrupted. All the invisible creatures on Mount Merbabu roam free, terrorizing anyone who dares to enter their territory. On their journey, they encounter two other climbers, Yoga and Diska, who have also lost their companions. The five young men then agree to work together to find a replacement Kuncen.

This decision becomes a crucial turning point that unlocks the mystery, while also placing them in grave danger that threatens not only their lives but also their own.

Kuncen Cast


Director Jose Poernomo, whose previous successes include Alas Pati: Hutan Mati (2018) and Petualangan Anak Penangkap Hantu (2024), once again proves his skill in creating a gripping yet emotional horror atmosphere.

He stated that the film's cast was deliberately chosen from among young actors and actresses. "After I read the script, I realized it was perfect for Gen Z kids. Then, during filming, we let them act as Gen Z should. So everything seemed natural, as if this is typical Gen Z behavior," said Jose.

Filming at Real Locations

The film successfully captures this essence through its majestic yet gripping cinematic visuals. From the thick fog, the mystical sounds of gamelan at night, to the appearance of guardian spirits that make your hair stand on end.

Jose also explained that the filming location for Kuncen was indeed a village at the foot of Mount Merbabu. The foggy atmosphere, the piercing cold, and the expanse of an old cemetery are all present at that location, making the visual effects truly realistic for the audience.

Kuncen will be released simultaneously in all Indonesian cinemas on November 6, 2025.
